PETALUMA--The 10th annual Petaluma River Festival is 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Aug. 19. Celebrate the river’s role and history in Petaluma with boat rides, kids’ events, live music, car show and a street dance. Activities are at the Turning Basin, the Golden Eagle Shopping Center, the Great Petaluma Mill and along Water Street. $3, general; free for kids. (707) 769-0429.
SANTA BARBARA--Oak Park becomes a Little Italy, Aug. 19-20, during Festa Italiana, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. both days. Traditional foods, music and dance and an Italian marketplace are featured. Free. (Pueblo Street exit from the northbound U.S. 101.) (805) 687-7197.
HAYWARD--A popular squash takes the spotlight at the Hayward Zucchini Festival, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Aug. 19-20. Zucchini foods, arts and crafts and entertainment are featured in Kennedy Park on Hesperian Boulevard. $4. A Friday night kickoff dance is 5-9 p.m. (510) 264-9466. TEHACHAPI--Rodeo, arts and crafts, entertainment and much more are featured at the 32nd annual Mountain Festival, Aug. 19-20. Other highlights include a parade on F Street at 10 a.m. Saturday and a country dance on Saturday night. Most activities are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days.
