PORT HUENEME : Del Monte Operating Out of New Terminal
Del Monte has begun operations in a new dockside refrigerated terminal and loading dock at the Port of Hueneme.
The 40,000-square-foot Del Monte U.S. Western Region Distribution Center will enable the company to store more produce and allow for distribution to retailers from a single location, reducing shipping costs and enhancing product quality, officials said.
Del Monte has been a Port of Hueneme customer since 1978, and bananas, melons and tropical fruit will pass through the new terminal to 13 western states and Canada.
The Oxnard Harbor District spent $3.8 million to build the facility and has an eight-year contract with Del Monte to use the dockside refrigerated terminal.
