Organ Donor Cards Will Be Available at Angel Games
ANAHEIM — In an effort to honor Mickey Mantle’s final wishes, the California Angels will promote organ donor awareness by making donor cards available to fans at each home game for the remainder of the regular season.
The Angels announced Thursday that with the help of volunteers from the Southern California Coalition on Donation, donor cards will be made available throughout each game at Gate 2 of Anaheim Stadium, beginning tonight when the Angels face the Minnesota Twins.
At a news conference two days after Mantle’s funeral, his family announced the establishment of “Mickey’s Team,” a program that features the circulation of organ donor cards that are designed to look like a baseball trading card.
