Police, Firefighters to Be Honored
Two police officers and two firefighters will be honored for outstanding service at an awards luncheon by the Tarzana Chamber of Commerce on Thursday.
Los Angeles Police Department Detective Paul Stewart, who is in charge of the West Valley Division’s Sex Crimes Unit, will be honored for leading that unit as it achieved a high crime-solving rate. Patrol Officer Rodney Forrest, one of 33 people who train rookie cops in the West Valley Division, will be recognized for his accomplishments as a top teaching officer.
The chamber will also salute Los Angeles Fire Department equipment operator Frank Garner, who works at Fire Station 93 in Tarzana, and paramedic Steve Brunett from Fire Station 100 in Van Nuys. Details about the Fire Department award recipients were unavailable.
The awards luncheon, which is open to the public, will be held at 11:45 a.m. at the Braemar Country Club. The cost is $15.
