3 Arrested in Chase After 2 Crashes
HUNTINGTON BEACH — Three juveniles were arrested on suspicion of stealing a car Thursday after they led police on a chase that resulted in two traffic accidents and ended in Long Beach, police said.
An officer driving north on Beach Boulevard at 7:15 p.m. spotted a 1989 Honda that had been reported stolen from Cypress on Wednesday, Lt. Gary Brooks said.
The officer failed to stop the driver, who got on the northbound San Diego Freeway, Brooks said. Two other police cars and a helicopter joined the chase that detoured off the 7th Street exit in Long Beach.
The suspected car thieves, speeding up to 100 m.p.h. at one point, caused one accident at Abbeyfield Street and another at Studebaker Road.
