COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : OCC Allows Soccer Victory to Slip Away
Orange Coast led by two goals with about 20 minutes left but ended up with a 3-3 tie against Los Angeles Mission Thursday in a nonconference men’s soccer game in Costa Mesa.
Bret Taylor scored two goals for Orange Coast (1-4-2). His second came 13 minutes into the second half and gave the Pirates a 3-1 lead.
But Israel Cabrera scored with 20 minutes left and Julio Castillo scored with four minutes left for Los Angeles Mission. Castillo’s goal came on a penalty kick.
Brett Jorgenson also scored for Orange Coast, which lost to Los Angeles Mission, 4-3, Tuesday.
In another nonconference game:
Santa Barbara 8, Irvine Valley 1--Gus Garcia scored a first-half goal for visiting Irvine Valley (4-2-2). Santa Barbara is 6-0. Irvine Valley beat Santa Barbara for the State title in 1993.
