California 118 Closed After Trucks Collide
A stretch of California 118 between Moorpark and Somis was closed for several hours Tuesday night after a dump truck and a semi collided, causing a 50-gallon diesel spill.
The accident, near Balcom Canyon Road, occurred just before 4 p.m. and caused closure of the two-lane highway between Somis and Tierra Rejada roads, said Officer Dave Cockrill of the California Highway Patrol.
William Merlos, 30, of Los Angeles was in fair condition Tuesday night at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo where he was admitted with hip and pelvis fractures. Two other people, who were not identified, were treated and released from the hospital.
The highway stretch was reopened about 9 p.m., authorities said.
