Sherman Oaks : 2 Residents Nominated for City Commissions

Two Sherman Oaks residents, Richard Quevedo and Walter Daugherty, have been nominated by Mayor Richard Riordan to two city commissions.

Quevedo, assistant business manager for Laborers Union Local 300, has been nominated to the Affordable Housing Commission. The commission evaluates the effectiveness of housing-related public policies and programs, particularly those meant to serve the poor, seniors and families.

Quevedo has worked as a compliance officer for the Center for Contract Compliance, a private organization that monitors state and federal contractors to ensure they work with accordance with California and federal regulations. He also is the former owner and operator of Integrity Cleaning Services, a janitorial and construction company.

Quevedo’s term would end June 30, 1998.

Daugherty, a labor arbitrator, has been nominated to the Employee Relations Board. The board examines charges of unfair practices by management and unions, and acts upon requests for mediation or fact-finding to resolve conflicts between management and unions.

Daugherty worked for 14 years as executive officer of the Los Angeles County Employee Relations Commission and also was director of the New Mexico Employee Relations Board. He is being nominated for a five-year term.

The City Council is scheduled to consider Daugherty’s nomination Wednesday. A hearing date has not been set for the City Council to consider Quevedo’s nomination.
