Driver Dies in Plunge Off Freeway
SANTA CLARITA — A woman was killed early Saturday when her car struck the center divider of the Antelope Valley Freeway, then plunged over the side of the road, the California Highway Patrol said.
The woman, whose name was withheld pending notification of her family, was driving north near Placerita Canyon Road at about 6:30 a.m. when her car drifted into the center divider, Officer Kerri Hawkins said. The car skidded back across the freeway and plunged over the right side, falling 150 feet down the embankment.
The driver was declared dead at the scene, Hawkins said.
