Bank of America Appoints New Senior Vice President
Randall M. Friedman has been named regional senior vice president for Bank of America. He oversees all banking services provided to middle-market and small-business clients in the south Orange County area. Friedman was previously regional vice president for the south Orange County regional commercial banking office.
* James Duplex has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president, customer support services for MAI Systems Corp., an Irvine information systems and computer products company. Duplex, who has been with MAI since 1991, most recently served as vice president and general manager for business partnerships. He will be responsible for MAI’s North American network of customer service engineers and the company’s in-house product repair and integration organization. Duplex has been with MAI for more than five years, joining the company as director of North American Customer Service. Before joining MAI, he was vice president, customer service, for Olivetti North America and vice president, company service for Bunker Ramos Corp.
* Michael F. Doherty has been named executive vice president of Golf Star Inc., a Newport Beach golf equipment and marketing company, as well as managing director of Golf Master, its new product development subsidiary. Doherty is a co-founder of Golf Star. He is the former editor and publisher of “Inside Golf” and was a tournament player on the West Coast for more than 30 years.
* Lynn DeVon has joined M/A/R/C Research as senior vice president and general manager of the Newport Beach branch. She was senior marketing research director for Visa International. In addition, Melissa Russell has joined the marketing intelligence firm as vice president. Russell used to be with Lieberman Research in Los Angeles.
* Lucia DeGarcia has been elected to the executive committee of the El Toro Airport Committee, a group advocating a commercial airport at the Marine Corps Air Station. She is president and chief executive of Elan International, a Newport Beach business development firm.
* Chet Baffa has been appointed vice president, marketing and sales for ATL Products Inc., a subsidiary of Odetics Inc. in Anaheim and a supplier of automated tape library systems. Baffa joined the company from Micropolis Corp., where he was vice president, sales and marketing. Before that, he was vice president, sales and marketing at Okidata Corp.
* Bud Summers has joined the board of the Sterling Award Council, a nonprofit consortium of companies and organizations dedicated to quality and productivity awareness in Orange County. Summers is general manager of Hines Nurseries in Irvine.
* Denise Roberts has been named director of sales and marketing for the Sutton Place Hotel in Newport Beach. She was director of marketing at Hotel Nikko in Beverly Hills.
* Elizabeth Davis has joined Barron Financial Services, an Irvine home lender, as senior vice president, loan administration. She was senior vice president, operations officer, executive vice president and chief financial officer for Frontline Mortgage in Irvine. Before that, Davis was senior vice president, operations and loan administration with Far West Savings and Loan Assn.
* Paul Sackman has been appointed director of sports marketing for VR Sports, the sports division of Interplay Productions in Irvine. Before joining the company, Sackman was senior marketing manager for the Upper Deck Co., a trading card manufacturer. VR Sports develops and publishes sports software.
* Toshio Yasui has been appointed vice president, sales for Irvine-based Western Digital Corp.’s Asia Pacific region and president of Western Digital Japan. Yasui joined the company after three years as senior executive vice president at Display Technology Inc.
* David Schreiman has been appointed chief financial officer of CUE Network Corp. in Irvine and its subsidiaries. He was formerly a senior audit manager with Price Waterhouse. CUE provides nationwide and regional messaging services throughout North America and Asia.
* Li-Lin Ko has been named chief financial officer of Preferred Mortgage Corp. in Irvine. Ko has more than 10 years of financial management experience, including serving as chief financial officer of Plaza Home Mortgage Corp.
* John Stahler has joined Cafe Fleuri, a restaurant in the Sutton Place Hotel in Newport Beach, as manager. He was previously the general manager of Chez Cary and a maitre d’ and wine steward at the Hobbit in Orange.
* Christine A. Taylor has been appointed partner in Ernst & Young’s performance improvement group in Irvine. Christina P. Altmayer, Lucinda J. Watkins and Randolph J. Watkins were named senior managers in the group. In addition, John E. Burt, Douglas S. Ethier, Carol Guynes, Joe Kemp, James B. Rogers and Kelvin Sakai were appointed managers.
* Leanne Reese-DuPay has been appointed Western regional marketing coordinator for Crown Books in Garden Grove. She used to be Western regional public relations manager for Marriott International.
