Since moving from Mexico to Los Angeles four years ago, Manuel Lopez of Belmont has established himself as one of the area’s best distance runners. Lopez, who carries a 3.0 grade-point average, finished third at the City Section cross-country finals last season as a sophomore and is running better this year. He was fifth at the Mt. San Antonio Invitational last Saturday in 15:27.
