Woman Who Tried to Break Into Prison Held
Reuters
WILMINGTON, Del. — A woman was arrested Sunday for trying to break into a prison to see an inmate, the state Department of Corrections said.
Spokeswoman Gail Stallings said the woman, Cheryl Carter, became “belligerent” when denied permission to see a friend because she did not have an appointment.
She brandished a knife and rammed her car into the fence of the prison, located about 30 miles south of Wilmington. Police removed her from her car at gunpoint and charged her with reckless endangerment, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief.
