Van Nuys : Man Dies Following Roommates’ Dispute
An apparent argument between two roommates in Van Nuys left one man dead and the other in custody Tuesday, Los Angeles police said.
Sgt. Brett Papworth said police believe that Jose Lemus and Javier Rosales, both 21, got into a heated argument in their apartment in the 8100 block of Langdon Street about 7:15 Monday night.
At the height of the argument, Papworth said Lemus apparently pulled out a handgun and shot his roommate of eight months. Rosales, who was shot once in the chest, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police apprehended Rosales hours after the shooting.
Papworth said the two men were from El Salvador and had never met until they moved in together.
They were looking for another apartment at the time of the shooting, he added.
