Bar Owner Arrested After Man Shot, Body Dumped in Alley
SUN VALLEY — A man was shot in a bar early Saturday, and the tavern’s owner has been arrested for allegedly dumping the body in an alley behind the business, Los Angeles police said.
The owner, Isidro Urbina, 44, did not kill the victim but reportedly lied to police about the death and attempted to dispose of evidence that the killing occurred in his bar, according to a police report.
Jose Rojas, 36, was shot about 2 a.m. following an argument in Rosita’s Bar in the 8200 block of San Fernando Road. Two men ran from the scene following the shooting, police said.
Detectives said Urbina apparently dragged the body from the bar and then left the tavern. He later denied any knowledge of the shooting or the disposal of the body.
“He took the body outside, dumped it in the alley and then mopped up the blood and disposed of other evidence before locking the place up,” said Detective Mike Coffey.
Urbina was later booked on suspicion of being an accessory to murder. Investigators have not determined whether he had any further involvement in the killing.
Police are looking for the two men believed to be responsible for the killing.
