VOLLEYBALL / STATE TOURNAMENT

In Division I:

Laguna Beach 3, San Diego Mt. Carmel 2--Carrie Zeller had 11 kills to lead Laguna Beach, which won, 15-10 6-15, 15-13, 16-18, 15-4. Laguna Beach (16-3) will play at Manhattan Beach Mira Costa (23-3) in the second round.

Mater Dei 3, Los Angeles Roosevelt 0--Roberta Gehlke, with 15 kills, and Nikki Noya with 13, helped Mater Dei advance with a 15-5, 15-7, 15-8 victory over Roosevelt. Mater Dei (21-3) will play at Bakersfield Stockdale (29-3) in the second round.

In Division II:

Del Mar Torrey Pines 3, Ocean View 0--Katie Lindquist had 12 kills in Ocean View’s, 15-4, 15-6, 15-6 loss to Torrey Pines (19-0). Ocean View finishes at 16-3.

Escondido San Pasqual 3, Cypress 0--Michelle Woiemberghe had 22 kills, including 12 in the first game, and Dusty Creager had 10 kills and two solo blocks, but it was not enough for Cypress (11-7) against San Pasqual (25-7), which won, 15-13, 15-8, 15-5.
