Key returners: Sommer Hammoud, midfielder, Jr.; Ali Ponce, midfielder, Sr.; Lynsey Salsbury, goalkeeper, Sr.; Brittany Savelkoul, forward, So.; Carrie Shinen, forward, Sr.; Andrea Sievers, defender, Sr.; Cyndi Tredway, defender/forward, Jr.
Key newcomers: Kara Morris, midfielder, Jr.; Jenny Willemse, forward, So.
Outlook: Los Alamitos, which returns eight starters, is a veteran team that should vie with Marina and Fountain Valley for the league title. The Griffins need a goal scorer to step forward and replace Elizabeth Willemse, a Times Orange County and Southern Section Division I first-team selection last season. Willemse is at UCLA. Los Alamitos returns three first-team, all-league players from last season: Sievers, Ponce and Hammoud. Sievers, also a Times’ second-team selection, is the key to the Griffins’ defense.
