BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Notre Dame Girls Win Second Tournament

Stacey Phillips had 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Notre Dame High girls’ basketball team defeated Burroughs, 62-57, to win the Burroughs tournament championship.

Stephanie Eden had 17 points and six assists for the Knights (7-2), who also won the L.A. Baptist tournament this season.

North Hollywood 54, Louisville 53--The Huskies scored 13 consecutive points to begin the third quarter of a pool-play game in the Simi Valley tournament.

Samantha Fargeon led North Hollywood (3-1) with 19 points. Steph Wasserman added 13 points and Lindsay Sotero-Higa had 11.

Becky Witt made a three-point basket with 23 seconds to play to pull Louisville (5-2) within 54-53.

Pasadena 39, Hart 38--Pasadena’s Jackie Sadler sank an eight-foot jump shot with five seconds to play in pool play of the Simi Valley tournament.

Candace Boller scored 14 points and Amanda Hoaglund had 11 for Hart (3-4).

Simi Valley 82, Chaminade 35--Tawnee Cooper scored 21 points and had 11 rebounds for the Pioneers in pool play of the Simi Valley tournament.

Jamie Griffin added 14 points and Shannon Malia had 12 for Simi Valley (10-2). Sheila Shilati and Jeanette Guziel each scored eight points for Chaminade (4-4).

BOYS

Burroughs 74, Notre Dame 65--Pete Nicholas and J.K. Scott each scored 16 points for Burroughs in the La Canada tournament.

Jorge Sotomayor added 15 points, Tega Moceanu scored 11 and Willie Glover had 10. Ryan Bowne led Notre Dame (3-4) with 18 points.

MEN

Valley 83, Fullerton 60--Lamarr Thompson had 18 points and seven rebounds, and Vernon Simmons added 14 points for the Monarchs (10-4) in the consolation final of the Pasadena tournament.

Glendale 81, Canyons 62--The Vaqueros (3-8) made seven three-pointers to open a 14-point lead in the consolation final of the Glendale tournament. Carl Biel (21 points) and Ryan Sylva (20) led Glendale.
