Honda Plans Plant Expansion: The Japanese auto maker said it plans to invest $210 million at its Canadian plant in Ontario to produce a new minivan for the North American market. Honda Motor Co. plans to double its output at its Alliston operations by adding 120,000 units of annual capacity, the company said. Work will begin in the summer on the expansion with the new model expected to roll off the line in the fall of 1998. Honda officials said the company’s overall North American production will eventually reach 840,000 units with the expansion. Honda’s U.S. manufacturing operations will support the production of the new minivan. The powertrain will be produced at its U.S. plant in Anna, Ohio.
