Oxnard Man Shot in Robbery Attempt
OXNARD — A 20-year-old Oxnard man was in surgery at St. John’s Regional Medical Center late Thursday night after being shot during an attempted robbery in a carport, police said.
Police said Victor Gabriel Cabrera was working on a car in the 700 block of West Channel Islands Boulevard when two or three robbers approached him at about 5:55 p.m.
Authorities said one of the robbers demanded money from Cabrera. Police said one of the men then shot Cabrera in the abdomen area, but that the bullet struck his hip bone and did not damage any vital organs.
Police are still looking for suspects and are treating the crime as an attempted murder case.
