Robinson’s 41 Lead Trail Blazers, 113-97

Clifford Robinson scored a career-high 41 points in leading the Portland Trail Blazers to a 113-97 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night in Portland.

Robinson made 17-of-27 field goal attempts, grabbed eight rebounds, and had four assists. His previous high was 40 against Utah three years ago.

“It’s always nice to play well at home, especially when we win,” Robinson said. “I’m very happy to get my career-high, but my main concern is getting more wins. We’ve been playing tough basketball and we’ve been right there in a lot of games and it’s time for us to start winning most of those games.”

The Timberwolves, who never got closer than six points during the last three quarters, were led by Christian Laettner’s 19 points, Isaiah Rider had 18.

Portland shot 50% (44 for 88) from the field and outrebounded the Timberwolves, 43-35, but was only 17 for 31 from the foul line. Robinson missed six of 10 free throws.

Dallas 117, Boston 96--Jim Jackson scored 30 points and Jason Kidd added a season-high 29 in Boston for the Mavericks’ first road victory against the Celtics in 16 tries.

Dino Radja had 28 points to lead the Celtics, who have lost six of their past seven games.

Lorenzo Williams had 16 rebounds to lead the Mavericks, who had a 53-42 advantage in the game.

Dallas led by as many as 17 points in the third quarter. With 3:09 left in the period, the Mavericks went on an 8-0 run to take an 84-67 lead with 1:43 left in the period.

A winter storm expected to dump up to two feet of snow along the East Coast forced the postponement of two games, between the Atlanta Hawks and New Jersey Nets at East Rutherford, N.J., and between the Seattle SuperSonics and New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
