22 People Are Named to Local Commissions
After an all-day series of interviews, the City Council this week appointed 22 people to local commissions.
Among key appointments, Cathryn DeYoung and Joe Orsak were chosen to join incumbent Linda Lindholm on the Planning Commission, and William Harris was named to the Traffic and Transportation Commission, where he will serve with veteran Cherie McLarty.
Each of the new appointees will serve for two years.
“We had a great pool of applicants,” Mayor Patricia C. Bates said. “I was really impressed with the amount of homework these people did.”
In other action, the City Council returned all six incumbents to the Senior Citizen Committee and reappointed the seven-member Investment Committee, which includes council members Thomas W. Wilson and Janet Godfrey.
Other appointments were made to the city Parks and Recreation Commission, Sports Advisory Commission, Public Safety-Emergency Preparedness Committee, Environmental Review Board and Holiday Events Committee.
