Bowers Shoots Down Simi Valley, 62-61

Mike Bowers hit a three-point basket from 25 feet at the buzzer as last-place Newbury Park High upset Simi Valley, 62-61, Friday night in a Marmonte League boys’ basketball game at Simi Valley.

Pero Vasiljevic, who scored 23 points, made two free throws with three seconds left for the Pioneers (14-6, 6-4 in league play). But Bowers, who scored 11 points, had the last word for Newbury Park (7-14, 2-8).

Scott Blough scored 27 points for Simi Valley.

Westlake 69, Royal 60--Steve Aylsworth scored 19 points, including three three-pointers during a key third-quarter run, for Westlake (12-7, 6-4) in a Marmonte League game.

Marques Pena had 17 points for the Highlanders (14-6, 7-3).

Camarillo 78, Agoura 65--Josh Hill scored 20 points and Nathan Kaup added 19 for the Scorpions (12-7, 4-6) in a Marmonte League game.

Josh Portnoy scored 16 points for Agoura (12-7, 6-4).

Hart 64, Canyon 46--Amir Parvinchiha had 18 points for the Indians (15-7, 4-2) in a Foothill League game. Brian Wallace scored 13 points for Canyon (14-8, 4-2).

Burbank 49, Valencia 47--Don Allado scored 15 points for the Bulldogs (11-9, 4-2) in a Foothill League game at Valencia.

Mike Swanson scored 11 for Valencia (5-15, 0-6).
