FHP Announces Plan to Sell Hospital in Salt Lake City
FOUNTAIN VALLEY — FHP International Corp. said Monday that it plans to sell its hospital in Salt Lake City to Pasadena-based Paracelsus Healthcare Corp. The sale would include the hospital’s surrounding campus, an adjacent medical center and related buildings.
Terms won’t be disclosed until the companies reach a final agreement, an FHP spokesman said.
The divestiture reflects FHP’s plans, announced last summer, to transform itself from a company that provides health services to its members through its own facilities into one that contracts with outside providers. The 122-bed Salt Lake City hospital is one of two FHP put on the block last summer.
In December, the company announced plans to sell its hospital in Fountain Valley, nearby corporate headquarters and surrounding 11-acre campus to Memorial Health Services, of Long Beach.
