Gang Suspects Beat and Shoot Man, 21
Suspected gang members chased, beat and shot a 21-year-old Piru man early Sunday on a downtown Piru street, deputies said.
Victor Lopez was treated at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital for a single gunshot wound to the torso and for head lacerations, and was later released, authorities said.
Lopez told police that two carloads of what he believed were gang members confronted him about 1 a.m. near Center and Via Fustero streets. He fled, but was chased down and beaten by four to six people, one of whom shot him with a small-caliber handgun.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sheriff Department’s major crimes unit at 654-2340.
