Man Pleads Innocent to Killing His Father
A Ventura man has denied killing his father and pleaded not guilty Friday to murder charges in Ventura County Municipal Court.
Lee Anthony Crowley, 43, was arrested in Oxnard on Jan. 27, hours after Ventura police found the body of his father, Robert Crowley, in his bedroom at the Gregory Apartment complex on Telephone Road.
The elder Crowley, 67, died of a large caliber gunshot wound to the chest, the coroner said.
After the shooting, investigators said that Lee Crowley stole his father’s wallet, Volkswagen and guns and drove to a friend’s apartment in Oxnard where he confessed the crime.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 8. Crowley remains jailed in lieu of $250,000 bail. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted.
