Lakewood’s Richard Dixon, competing in the 118-pound division of the Junior National Weightlifting Championships at the University of New Mexico, finished fourth overall. Steve Merrill, also from Lakewood, finished fifth in the 167-pound class. . . . The Wilson boys’ 800 relay team of Mazi Foster, Frank Rice, Melvin Johnson and Clarence Scott set a national indoor record by winning the event at the Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho, in a time of 1 minute, 28.61 seconds. . . . Alex Rodriguez scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift Redondo past Gahr, 3-2, in soccer. . . . Juan Delgado scored two goals as top-seeded Banning defeated San Fernando, 4-1. . . . Gardena tied its game with Fremont as time expired on a goal by Luis Rodriguez, but lost in overtime, 2-1. . . . Marcus Colen scored 42 points, grabbed 24 rebounds and had eight steals to lead Rolling Hills Prep past L.A. Baptist, 86-39. . . . Floyd Harvey made a three-point basket as time expired to send the game into overtime, then made two free throws with two seconds to play in overtime as Narbonne defeated Marshall, 72-70. . . . Kendra Tease scored 21 points and had 16 rebounds to lead the Banning girls to a 58-51 victory over Locke.
