Ice Dogs Falter in Third Period

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —  The Kansas City Blades scored three goals in the third period and snapped a five-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Ice Dogs on Friday night in the International Hockey League.

The Ice Dogs were outshot, 18-4, in the first period, a season low, but they scored first when John Byce notched his 28th of the season 6:24 into the game. David Bruce’s goal 50 seconds later tied the score.

Neither team scored again until the 7:44 mark of the third period when Dan Laperriere’s goal gave the Blades the lead. Rob Kenny evened it at 2-2 five minutes later, but Jan Caloun responded 26 seconds later with the game-winner.

The Ice Dogs were unable to capitalize on six power-play opportunities, while Kansas City converted on one of seven chances.
