Veterans Home to Be Discussed
A special state commission will meet today to discuss the possibility of locating a veterans home in Saticoy, a move that would mean 400 new jobs.
Supervisor John Flynn has been pushing Saticoy as the best location for the $30-million home.
Land has been donated and the site has received the approval of the Board of Supervisors, Ventura City Council and organizations representing the estimated 540,000 veterans in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
Flynn is urging a public show of support to convince the commission Saticoy is the best location for the home.
“With full community support there is an excellent possibility that the fourth and last veterans home will be sited [here],” he said.
The Governor’s Commission on a Southern California Veterans Home will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Ventura County Government Center.
