Crenshaw’s Pressure Too Much for Glendora
Using a full-court press after every basket, second-seeded Crenshaw forced 16 first-half turnovers and scored an easy 118-76 victory over Glendora in a State Southern Regional Division I first-round game Tuesday at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Guard Alastair Faux scored 24 points and center Corey Williams had 22 to lead Crenshaw (26-5). Casey Jacobsen had a game-high 28 points for Glendora (25-7).
The Cougars will play host to Long Beach Jordan on Thursday at Cal State Dominguez.
“We have a tendency to get overconfident against teams we know nothing about,” Crenshaw Coach Willie West said.
Faux, Kevin Bradley and Allison Carter made consecutive three-point shots to give the Cougars a 15-4 lead in the first quarter. The lead was extended to 25 by halftime.
