1996 Prep Golf Preview : Six Teams to Watch : Servite

1995: 16-1, 6-0 in the Golden West League; advanced to the section team championship and finished ninth.

Key returners: Adam Ainbinder, Jr.; Chris Arns, So.; Case Barnett, Jr.; Dave Lauder, So.; Mike Lauder, Sr.; Will Luciano, So.; Jeff McGraw, Sr.

Key newcomer: Jimmy Lee, Jr.

Outlook: Servite, which finished third in the Southern Regional last season, returns with its entire team intact, yet McCance said the Friars are often overlooked. “I’ve been to a couple of coaching functions and they never mention us among the top teams. I think a lot of people think McGraw graduated.” No such luck for Servite’s opponents. McGraw, one of the best high school players in the county, finished in a tie for third at the CIF-SCGA Championships. Ainbinder, runner-up to McGraw in the league individual finals, Barnett and Luciano, each shot 77 or better at the Southern Regional. Mike Lauder, like McGraw a four-year starter, shot 80, but McCance says Lauder will surprise people with his improvement.
