Cornerstone Christian 62, Strathmore 59--Julie Siefert had 17 points and eight assists and sank a 10-foot jump shot with two minutes remaining to put the Eagles (21-2) ahead for good, 57-55, in a seesaw game at Strathmore (21-7).

The lead changed hands 15 times.

Siefert also hit a pair of free throws to give Cornerstone Christian a 62-57 lead with 28 seconds left.

Julia Tamai had 17 points, five assists and four steals, and Karen Breshears added 14 points and had 14 rebounds for the Eagles, who will play Julian in a second-round game Thursday.

In a boys’ game:

Horizon Christian 84, Antelope Valley Christian 55--Michael Haywood scored 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter to lead the winners.

The Eagles (25-2) fell behind, 37-25, in the first half but cut the lead to 55-48 before the Panthers outscored them 29-7 in the fourth quarter.

Antelope Valley Christian committed 28 turnovers.
