Woodland Hills : College Ex-President Quits Commerce Post
Former Pierce College acting President Mary Lee has resigned as chairwoman of the Valley Industry & Commerce Assn., association officials said Wednesday.
Lee, who had been elected chairwoman six months ago, stepped down Feb. 29 because she is no longer affiliated with Pierce College, said Marvin Selter, VICA vice chairman.
An election will be held for a new chairman on Monday at a regularly scheduled meeting of the association’s executive committee, Selter said.
Lee resigned as acting president at Pierce after learning she had been passed over by a committee searching for a permanent president.
In other VICA news, the association will hold a candidates’ forum on March 15 at the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys.
The forum, part of the association’s State Issues Committee luncheon, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Balboa Ballroom at 7277 Valjean Ave.
Among those scheduled to attend are Los Angeles County district attorney candidates John F. Lynch, Steve Zand, Harold Greenberg and Malcolm Jordan; city attorney candidate Ted Stein, and 19th Senate District candidates John Birke and Adam Schiff.
Others scheduled are 23rd Senate District candidate Scott Schreiber and Michael Jordan, Mark Pash and Richard Sybert, candidates for the 24th Congressional District.
Cost is $25. For reservations, call (818) 888-2228.
