Anaheim Manufacturer Hit by Chemical Fire
ANAHEIM — More than 50 firefighters battled flames Wednesday night at a chrome-plating manufacturer, where a vat of chemicals ignited, authorities said.
The two-alarm fire was discovered about 7:15 p.m. inside the Superior Plating plant in the 1900 block of East Cerritos Avenue, an industrial area. Preliminary investigations showed that the fire started inside a vat filled with a degreasing product, Battalion Chief Roger Smith said.
It took firefighters more than an hour to control the blaze, and hazardous material units worked late into the night to clean the debris and control any runoff of chemicals.
