ACT Networks Signs Deal With Japan Firm
ACT Networks of Camarillo has signed a multimillion-dollar agreement to manufacture telecommunications devices for a Japanese company.
Under the terms of this agreement, ACT will develop and deliver to Takachiho Koheki a custom version of its frame-relay access device, for use by TK and its resellers.
The product will be used to address the needs of certain financial institutions in Japan. The first order, valued at more than $2.8 million, will be shipped to TK within the next 12 months.
“Takachiho Koheki has been a distributor of ACT Networks’ products for over seven years,” said Martin Shum, president and chief executive officer of ACT Networks. “We are pleased to expand our relationship with TK from distribution to [manufacturing]. We believe this more focused approach will allow ACT to capture a higher share of the Japanese emerging frame-relay market.”
Takachiho Koheki, a $200-million privately held corporation in Tokyo, engages in the distribution of telecommunications equipment, electronic components, automation systems and security devices.
ACT Networks develops, manufactures and sells telecommunications equipment for corporate networking.
