Volunteers Sought for Cultural Arts Center
Simi Valley is looking for volunteers to help run and raise money for the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center.
The five-member Ad Hoc Cultural Center Committee, which oversees planning and operations for the 5-month-old city-owned theater and gallery, has two vacancies for the public. Those appointed would serve two years.
The Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center Foundation is a nonprofit, fund-raising panel trying to gather $2 million to support the overhead of the converted Methodist church that houses the arts center on Los Angeles Avenue. The foundation also has two vacancies. Members of this 21-member board serve four years.
Mayor Pro Tem Bill Davis and Councilwoman Sandi Webb will interview all applicants for both panels and recommend candidates to the City Council for final approval.
To apply, obtain an application from the city manager’s office at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road. Forms can also be ordered through the mail by calling the city manager’s office at 583-6701. All applications are due at City Hall by 5 p.m. Friday.
