$25,000 Reward Offered in Killing of Little Tokyo Doctor
The Los Angeles City Council voted Tuesday to provide a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the slaying of a 75-year-old Japanese American obstetrician who was killed in her Westlake home.
Linda Morimoto was bludgeoned to death during what police believe was a burglary, officials said. Her body was found March 29 by her sister.
Calling Morimoto “very active, very energetic, a valiant fighter against crime,” Councilwoman Rita Walters introduced the motion to approve the reward.
Police have no leads or suspects, said Det. Andy Cicoria.
The exact cause of death is still under investigation, but Cicoria said there was evidence of blunt-force trauma.
Morimoto had devoted her life to delivering babies and fighting crime, founding the group that is now known as the Greater Little Tokyo Anti-Crime Assn.
Police are asking anyone with information about the murder to call homicide detectives at (213) 207-2072 or 207-2703.
