Bruins Gunning for Another Title
UCLA, defending NCAA men’s volleyball champion, has a chance to repeat this weekend. The top-seeded Bruins play host to Penn State, Lewis University and Hawaii in the NCAA tournament at Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins (24-5) have won 15 national titles under Coach Al Scates. They will play fourth-seeded Lewis (31-4) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in a semifinal match.
Second-seeded Hawaii (26-2) will play No. 3 Penn State (24-5) in the other semifinal at 5:30 p.m.
UCLA, which won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title with a five-game victory over UC Santa Barbara on Sunday in Hawaii, is 22-0 at home in NCAA tournament matches.
The championship match will be played Saturday at 4 p.m.
