Update * Follow-up on the news : Work Starts on New Anaheim Hills School
The first shovelfuls of dirt have been turned for Orange Unified’s new school in Anaheim Hills, Canyon Rim Elementary. The school, which will serve the rapidly growing east side of the sprawling school district, is to open in 1997.
Wednesday’s construction start was hailed by parents who stormed district headquarters last year to protest overcrowding at their schools, some of which have stopped enrolling new students.
“We had a lot of preschoolers there for the groundbreaking,” Trustee Maureen Aschoff said. “This new school is their future.”
