Agoura Hills : Registration Deadline Nearing for Tax Vote
May 28 is the deadline to register to vote in Agoura Hills’ June 25 special election on a utility tax that was implemented two years ago by the City Council.
Registration forms may be obtained at City Hall, 30101 Agoura Court, Suite 102, and at the Las Virgenes Library at 29130 Roadside Drive in Agoura Hills. Those who have moved since registering must register again.
The tax was implemented to close a $1-million budget gap, according to city officials. Last year, the California Supreme Court upheld a 1986 state ballot measure giving voters a say over new general and special taxes. After the ruling, an Agoura Hills anti-tax group began pressuring city officials to put the tax to a vote of the people.
For information, call City Clerk Pat Manning at (818) 597-7303. On election day, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Absentee ballot forms are available at City Hall.
