Public Input Sought in Selecting Schools Chief
The Huntington Beach Union High School District has scheduled two public meetings later this month to solicit opinions on naming a new superintendent.
The sessions will be at district headquarters, 10251 Yorktown Ave., in Conference Room B on May 28 and May 30. Both meetings will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
District officials said they hope to get opinions on qualities people would like in a new superintendent.
Individuals, however, are encouraged to discuss any aspect they choose in giving opinions about selecting a superintendent.
A spokeswoman for the district said organizations that would like to have individual conferences on the selection process can call Carole Thomas, executive assistant for the district, at (714) 964-3339, Ext. 4200.
Supt. David Hagen announced in early May that he would be resigning in late August or early September. His wife, Ronee, has accepted a position in Pottsville, Pa., and Hagen said he was resigning so that he could join her.
