Man Arrested in Arizona Suspected in Officer’s Death
Pomona police are seeking the return of an alleged gang member wanted on suspicion of shooting to death Daniel T. Fraembs, the only officer to be killed in the line of duty in the department’s 108-year history.
Ronald Bruce Mendoza Jr., 22, of Pomona was arrested in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Tuesday night and held without bail, said Pomona Police Chief Rick Shaurette. Lake Havasu police were asked to arrest the suspect after an investigation by a task force consisting of Pomona police officers and Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies.
“[Mendoza] was member of the Happy Town gang. The officer knew him from his patrols,” Shaurette said. “Information was developed in the last few days that gave us the name of the suspect,” said the chief who broke down in tears last week at Fraembs’ funeral.
