Candles Blamed in Apartment Blaze
Two people were left homeless early Thursday when their Oxnard apartment was scorched, allegedly by candles left burning, Oxnard Fire Department officials said.
Because electricity and gas were shut off at the apartment, fire investigators suspect that burning candles caused the 1 a.m. blaze.
The fire in the second-story apartment in the 1100 block of North H Street caused about $150,000 in damage to the apartment and smoke damage to adjacent apartments.
An investigation is continuing.
