Redevelopment Topic of Anti-Tax Group
The merits of community redevelopment agencies will be the topic of Wednesday’s meeting of the Committees of Correspondence, a countywide anti-tax group.
A number of cities have redevelopment agencies to generate some revenue needed for major infrastructure and neighborhood revitalization projects.
The recent improvement efforts in downtown Santa Ana and Huntington Beach, for example, used redevelopment funds.
Paul B. Sarvis, a longtime foe of redevelopment agencies, will speak at the meeting. Sarvis successfully fought a proposed redevelopment project in Downey and has advised agency critics in Anaheim and Huntington Beach as well.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Orange City Hall, 300 E. Chapman Ave. Information: (714) 633-6725.
