U.S. Women Finally Get Win Over China
The U.S. women’s volleyball team defeated China, 13-15, 15-11, 15-10, 15-13, for the first time in five tries this year to claim third place in the BCV Volley Cup in Montreux, Switzerland. Cuba was first, Brazil second.
Outside hitter Tara Cross-Battle of Long Beach, who had 20 kills and a team-high five stuff blocks, was named tournament most valuable player.
Elaine Youngs of El Toro added 15 kills for the United States, which is 11-12.

The U.S. women will play their first match of the Olympics against Ukraine on July 20. The American men begin the next day against Poland.
