Abandoned Truck Forces Evacuation
Associated Press
SEATTLE — An abandoned pickup truck with a metal heart in its bed and the word “bomb” on its bumper forced the evacuation Monday of a nine-block area in a downtown shopping district.
Witnesses said a man parked the truck near the Westlake Center about 3:10 p.m., flattened the tires and left. The area was evacuated as police waited for a robot device to examine the truck, police said.
The truck carried a sculpture of a human heart. A similar sculpture had been used to protest plans to reopen Pine Street to traffic.
