Bullfrogs Defeat Blades, 8-4, and Win Series
The Anaheim Bullfrogs capitalized on a major penalty to score two power play goals late in the third quarter and went on to defeat the Los Angeles Blades, 8-4, and win the Roller Hockey International Pacific Division playoff series Tuesday night at the Forum.
The Bullfrogs, who defeated the Blades, 7-5, at the Pond of Anaheim on Monday in the opener of the best-of-three series, play the winner of the Northwestern Division final between Oakland and Vancouver. Those teams decide their series tonight in Vancouver.
The Blades trailed, 4-3, with 5 minutes 48 seconds left in the third quarter when Blades captain Steve Wilson was tossed for slashing Bullfrogs defenseman Darren Perkins. Perkins was taken to Centinela Hospital with a possible broken leg.
Todd Wetzel’s penalty shot was rejected by Blades goalie Sean Gauthiers, but Perkin’s replacement, defenseman Joe Cook, took advantage of the four-minute man advantage and scored two goals.
Cook finished with a hat trick.
