It seems inconceivable that I would hail the sentiments of Robert Hilburn, after years of pretty much thorough disagreement and disbelief at some of his opinions on current music.

But his comments about Toni Braxton are dead on ($50 Guide, Aug. 18). She brings passion back to pop and elevates the realm of soul.
