Bread Truck Hits Car, Sending 3 to Hospital
Oxnard police are investigating a crash at the intersection of Channel Islands Boulevard and Ventura Road on Saturday involving a station wagon and bread truck that sent three people to an Oxnard hospital, one of them with serious head injuries.
The crash happened about 4:40 a.m. when the driver of the station wagon, identified as Jacqueline Marie Woods, 54, of Oxnard, ran a red light on northbound Ventura Road at Channel Islands Boulevard and was hit on the driver’s side by a bread truck driven by Thomas Jesse McLain, 49, of Oxnard, said Officer Felice Epps.
Authorities say the bread truck landed on top of Woods’ vehicle, crushing the driver’s side and pushing it into a light pole on the northeast corner of the intersection.
Woods was admitted to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard with head injuries. She was listed in serious condition Saturday afternoon, said a hospital spokeswoman.
A passenger in Woods’ car, 24-year-old Natalie Gonzales of Oxnard, was treated for minor injuries and released. McLain was also treated for minor injuries and released.
