Arson Is Blamed in 20-Acre Blaze
A 20-acre blaze that forced the evacuation of about 20 homes Wednesday in the North Ranch neighborhood of Thousand Oaks was the work of an arsonist, authorities said Thursday.
The 5 p.m. fire on the western side of Westlake Boulevard caused about 20 families to be evacuated after firefighters feared the wood shake roofs were vulnerable.
It took more than 100 firefighters about an hour to contain the blaze. The families returned to their homes about 6:30 p.m. Police on Thursday were still seeking the person responsible.
