Man Critical After Drive-by Attack
A man shot in the head early Thursday during what police say was a gang-related drive-by attack is clinging to life at a local hospital, police said.
Just after midnight Thursday, the victim, who was not identified, was sitting in his parked car in the 8800 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard talking with two friends, according to Det. Mike Coffey of the Los Angeles Police Department.
While they talked, two men in a truck pulled up and the truck’s passenger asked the men where they were from, Coffey said. Immediately after asking the question, one of the men inside the pickup opened fire on the car, striking one man with a single shot to the head, police said.
The dark-colored pickup sped from the scene. Friends took the injured man to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he is listed in critical condition.
